Dear 14-Year-Old Self,
Don’t worry about all of the changes that are about to happen. Don’t worry about all of the new people you are going to meet.
Don’t worry about dressing stylishly every day and not feeling good enough. Don’t worry about getting a boyfriend in high school when in the future you will meet the man of your dreams. He will not go to the same high school as you, so stop looking.
Don’t worry about having straight A’s when you still manage to get into every college you apply to. Don’t worry about working a part-time job when you have the rest of your life to work.
Especially, don’t worry about trying to fit in and change who you are. You are you uniquely and beautifully you.
Don’t try to adjust and take on the burden of trying to meet everyone’s expectations either. Believe me when I tell you that there is no way to please everyone. And you shouldn’t try to.
I write to you to tell you that you are strong and all of the tough years ahead of you will only make you stronger and shape you into the woman who is writing this letter to you.
I write to you to tell you it will be all right and EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
So although I can’t go back in time and change any of the events that do occur, what I CAN tell you is that all of the lessons you will learn and the people you meet will forever change your life.
This is a challenge that you should face head on for you will come out on top!
An Older & More Wiser You
