Six Ways to Show Yourself Some Love

Recently, Fempotential hosted its first event – a FREE Galentine’s event that focused on reminding women to show themselves some love. Often, women are expected to take care of everyone around them but themselves — their partners, their kids, their parents, and even their friends.  And sadly, we forget to take care of ourselves.

Trust me; I am no stranger to this! I quickly realized that I had a very ambitious mindset and with that, I would stretch myself so thin on projects, friends, and family, that I would forget to take care of me and spiral into a small depressive state or get sick or have such tense muscles that I couldn’t move well. So I began to incorporate some self-love into my routine and it has paid off tremendously for my mental and physical well-being.

To help you come up with fun ideas to show yourself some love throughout the year, I thought I’d do it in a fun way — with pictures from Fempotential’s event! So check it out:

1. Get a makeover.

Find a local makeup artist and hair stylist and get a makeover! It doesn’t have to be for a special event — just something that makes you feel fresh, beautiful, and confident.

2. Book a massage.

Stressed? That was a rhetorical question — we all are! Find a massage therapist and relax under their magical hands. Show yourself some love by smoothing out those kinks in your neck or back — we promise, it’s worth it.

3. Do a solo photoshoot.

There’s nothing quite as fun as doing a photoshoot — especially when the entire focus is on you! Book a photographer, or a friend who is a genius with their smartphone, find a cool area in your city, and get to snapping pictures! Have fun with the poses, use props! Just let yourself be the focus of the day.

4. Send yourself a random reminder.

We all could use a pep talk every once in awhile. So at Fempotential, we created a cool new campaign called, “Random Reminders.” The basic premise of it is this — writer yourself a sweet, inspirational message. We will take that message, write it on one of our fabulous postcards, and then randomly send it to you when you are least expecting it — and probably really needing it. 5. Set up a photoshoot with friends.

If you want to do a photoshoot, but you’re a little camera shy, why not add a friend or two? Your friends are sure to make you laugh, and you’ll all probably get a little silly — which is exactly what you need! To let loose!

6. Have a happy hour date with wine and your favorite gal pals.

Wine makes everything fine, especially wine with a happy hour deal! Show yourself some love, and relax with a friend or two (or even solo!) and a glass of Cab.
